Art of joy

As a  creative, there is always the need to make something and if your not doing, making, creating what you love you can feel lost. Well for me that is how I felt during the past three years. It started out well, I was happy to have a new job, experiencing new people but eventually the work just wasn’t for me anymore. I needed to make a change for my own well being and purpose. Over the course of my work days, I realized the work was boring, non-stimulating it was dulling my senses, kinda sucking the life from my soul (dramatic I know but its how I felt).

Taking time to contemplate my situation, realizing my life goals I decided to take a leap of faith.  Now my goal is to go full throttle with my art and work with anything that promotes my creative and brings me joy. These days I am feeling happier and lighter in spirit which is carrying over into the art I create. I always had a love of watercolor, and recently have been working on small paintings on paper, inspired by nature.

I want to share a little joy with you. Because I enjoy giving and sharing my work, I am offering a giveaway this week. I am selecting three winners BUT the winners will have to gift the art away. (No spamming, or mailings etc.) You can visit my artist page on Facebook, like the giveaway post and comment with the name of person you would like to give art to if you won. (no tagging or sharing required) Just a little giveaway…  You can just stop by say hello if you don’t wish to participate.. Thank you for taking the time to read my posts and view my art!!

Placement

Out of the shadow

light draws an appearance

brief inspiration

color vibrates

I see differently today

Placement makes all the difference. As shadows  grew over the art, the light made its presence, it soaked upon my thoughts, sharing in words of inspiration today.

Wild weather exhales inspiration

During our morning routine before school, my daughter asked me to write a poem. My first thought, I don’t have anything to write about. Then other thoughts followed..

I hear…… Unknown to me

the sound echos through the empty house

bang, clank shakes me awake

a ghostly presence of make believe

rooms filled with chatter

I try to muffle the noise

quiet restored

my mind is free

to dance around my thoughts

Drawing against my thoughts

Fear finds a way and appears when you least expect it. ( where have you been hiding?) Fear settles in the body like cement, hardening with every new thought. The order is given, a combat begins within, there is a slow release of panic. Pay attention to the feeling, stay silent and listen. Time to draw a way out, to push through and rise above it all.

(The best part of experiencing the emotions within is the ability to draw it out, and look at it face to face.)

I decided on a mash up today, I took an old watercolor I never finished and created a new mixed media piece layering it over the old painting. The figure was pieced together with decorative wrapping paper, marker and watercolor paper. -Mixed media on watercolor paper.

The world slips away

I let my imagination run wild and creativity take hold. As a young girl in school I would often drift off to another world, dreaming of imaginary people and places while tuning out the lessons of the day (briefly). Recently I have been fixated on change, imagining something different for myself. So I decided to take a leap, to follow a new path and forge through the unknown. Ready for new adventures.

Go ahead and imagine your own possibilities!
