A collection of my landscape and cityscape paintings will be on display at The Cedars House, a quaint cafe in the woods of Philadelphia. The cafe is a favorite haunt of mine, when hiking the trails in Fairmount Park or sketching in nature. My paintings are on display now through December.

During our morning routine before school, my daughter asked me to write a poem. My first thought, I don’t have anything to write about. Then other thoughts followed..
I hear…… Unknown to me
the sound echos through the empty house
bang, clank shakes me awake
a ghostly presence of make believe
rooms filled with chatter
I try to muffle the noise
quiet restored
my mind is free
to dance around my thoughts
Tree limbs greet the morning haze
sweet cool air dance along the lines
shared spaces with winged creatures
The wind whips me awake, draws me in
I am aware..
I feel comfort..
I whisper thank you..
The stupid moments of the day you wish you can just erase. Maybe hide, or submerge oneself entirely in a glass of wine, unlikely……. Instead I will try and draw myself there..
Pressures of the day can be demanding. Oh I will shrink myself down, down, down not because of fear, but to be one with nature, one with the leaves, grass, and flowers. I will submerge in the surroundings and be one with myself. Peace is restored.

When the artwork was created, I let the brush and paint guide me. The pattern and color took shape on the canvas and I intuitively let the image come forth. As I viewed the painting today for the first time in months, I understand the message. Today the image spoke to me.
Step out of the shadows, be light, take flight. You never know what you can achieve until you try!

Im lost in the ease of movement
effortless motion of forms
the wind whispers….
that is how you should move through life

Day 15 of 100 artworks challenge
Didn’t have a clue that I would be emptied of creative expression tonight until I sat down to create. I put all my energy and soul into yesterdays artwork Day 14, which seemed to zap any interest in making something today. Sticking with the challenge I decided to just work smaller and keep it simple.

Day 3 of 100 artworks challenge Mixed media art
In my attempts to create art today I was scattered in thought and thus couldn’t begin my project. Decided to recycle an old watercolor sketch I found as I went through my papers. I sliced and diced the sketch and incorporated the piece into my project. Amongst the clutter of discarded art can be something reimagined, be open to new possibilities.
