Time off for good behavior

Shaking up my day this morning getting out of my little studio to meet up with a friend. It was perfect weather to be out and about today. I headed to a local cafe for a good cup of cafe mocha and to enjoy some engaging conversation. Afterwards I was inspired to create this little doodle.

Watercolor, marker and pencil on paper

During the creative process  sometime I don’t know what I will create this time I started with a blank page penciling a few random lines letting the image appear and just go for it.

Placement

Out of the shadow

light draws an appearance

brief inspiration

color vibrates

I see differently today

Placement makes all the difference. As shadows  grew over the art, the light made its presence, it soaked upon my thoughts, sharing in words of inspiration today.

(Art: Color pencil drawing on paper hangs on my wall)

Wild weather exhales inspiration

During our morning routine before school, my daughter asked me to write a poem. My first thought, I don’t have anything to write about. Then other thoughts followed..

I hear…… Unknown to me

the sound echos through the empty house

bang, clank shakes me awake

a ghostly presence of make believe

rooms filled with chatter

I try to muffle the noise

quiet restored

my mind is free

to dance around my thoughts

(mixed media art, pencil, marker and cut paper)

The storyteller

Because my love for creating is strong

I will doodle on everything

I will always be late

I will always be caught in a daydream

I will lack sleep

I will always wear handmade jewelry

I will set my sights for inspiration everyday

I will sail across the page in all kinds of adventure

I will always be a storyteller…….    to be continued

The page is my friend

I try to uphold to a morning routine by carving out time for myself before the hectic throws of the day. My commitment to writing three long hand pages (morning pages) began many years ago when I read the book, The Artist Way, by Julia Cameron. The routine of writing everyday clears the mind, relieves stress and allows you to tap into your well of creativity on a regular basis.  My writing this morning inspired this doodle.

My sketch book, pencil, pen on paper.
