My 100 days of music illustrated project came to an end. It was a challenge but I did stay the course and complete all 100 days! Everyday I picked a song to illustrate, and some weeks I went with a theme, for example: one hit wonders, the classics or songs paired to a family member.
The art I created for this project was posted daily to my instagram page @Jensimaginings. The 100 Day Project, happens once a year, anyone can join in to create something everyday for 100 days, and most will share their projects on instagram.

This is my 4th year participating in the 100 day project. Â The annual project is an open creative endeavor for anyone who wants to participate. You can follow along on Instagram #the100dayproject or post art using your own special hashtag.
My theme this year, 100 Days Art Reimagined, working with the supplies I already own, I will also recycle older art and reuse them in a new way.
This process of creating should allow for new ideas to emerge. The first five days of my project is shown below.Â

2/100 Â Reflecting within
Materials used: previously created self portrait, postcard, gesso and acrylic paint, which I layered onto an old mirror.Â
3/100 Â Lost in imagination
Materials used: Recycled art layered over decorative paper
4/100 Â Peace
Materials used: Recycled art, layered ink drawing onto a sunset landscape painting on paperÂ
5/100 Â Car ride to nowhere
Inspired by a photograph from a random drive in the country
Materials used: Â scrap watercolor paper with dye splatter, and ink

Well I’m not going to California but I was encouraged to use the song Going to California by Led Zeppelin as part of my 100 day project..
The song was a recommendation by a fellow Instagram connection. I was inspired by the music and soulful lyrics so I decided to illustrate it.. Thankful for the special song request and the curiosity to give it a try, because this art became one of my favorites on my 100 day journey.

Day 85 of my 100 days of songs illustrated.
Song inspiration: Six Feet Under by Billie Ellish – “Our love is six feet under I can’t help but wonder if our grave was watered by the rain, would roses bloom?..”
In the video below I am using acrylic paint on 140 lb on cold press paper. If you notice a little difference in the drawing  at this stage, I decided to change up the figure midway through the process because the image wasn’t working for me visually.
Working with mixed media, here I am adding watercolor to lower portion of artwork.

The reason behind my theme choice, I wanted the challenge of telling a story through my art..

A little late on the draw posting the images, but I finally completed all 100 days of art this past August.
My theme for this project 100 Days Of Cookie Cat, all cat illustrations were completed on 5×5″ format (140 lb watercolor paper), using a variety of mediums.

On the surface it may seem I just breezed through thirty 5×5″ cat illustrations, but in reality it can be comparable to Cookie cat trying to squeeze into a small space on a chair her human occupies..

Many moons ago I attempted a challenge, creating mixed media art everyday for 100 days but unfortunately I fell short. This year my goal is to accomplish 100 artworks of my cat Cookie #100DaysOfCookieCat .  I will be working on 5×5″ watercolor cold press paper utilizing any medium.

A little backstory.. We adopted Cookie 2 yrs ago from Spay and Save, Inc. The moment my daughter met Cookie, she knew the cat would be perfect for our family. My daughter was correct, Cookie is a wonderful cat, quirky, boisterous, loving, sweet natured, and a great cuddle buddy.. When anyone is visibly sad or cries Cookie will appear to comfort that person and sometimes she will run over to the person to give a kiss on the cheek.. true story!Â
