Art of listening

The power to truly listen to that which wants to come through you can be a tough thing to accomplish. Life happens, distractions occur but finding a quiet spot to sit and let your mind wander works wonders…. When words find you in that space where your mind fades, magic happens. Sometimes we just need to get out of our own way.

Writing my morning pages brought forth this intuitive sketch..

Thank you for stopping by to view my work and videos..

Life in abstract

Every so often I like to change things up and create abstract art. I like the freedom and exploration of the process. The past few weeks I have been working on two mixed media paintings simultaneously. Working on these paintings felt like a tug of war, a love hate relationship, a labor of love with lots of juicy layers.

Reflection in the studio

Feeling a little gratitude today. I realized how much I enjoy the WordPress community of bloggers. So much creativity, inspiration and support.  I want to give a shout out to say thank you to everyone that visited, read my blog, followed and commented.  I enjoy all the connections made!

A glimpse of my art space where I am preparing a new canvas. I will be sharing my creative process, on Periscope @flufnutter  you can view recent videos. Be forewarned,  I am new at this live video thing so it may take me a few more videos to get comfortable filming.

Wild weather exhales inspiration

During our morning routine before school, my daughter asked me to write a poem. My first thought, I don’t have anything to write about. Then other thoughts followed..

I hear…… Unknown to me

the sound echos through the empty house

bang, clank shakes me awake

a ghostly presence of make believe

rooms filled with chatter

I try to muffle the noise

quiet restored

my mind is free

to dance around my thoughts

What is old is new again

Recently discovered a watercolor painting I created in my teens. The old photograph I referenced to paint this portrait is still in my possession.  The photo is my favorite because we looked like we were happy, and having good old fashion fun. Luckily my sister doesn’t read my blog or she might object to showcasing this painting.  Anyway,  I love how we looked and probably how we felt at this age ( 4 & 7?), we were goofy kids without a care in the world. Those days were magical, by that I mean, we lived without limitations, lived fully, lived without body issues, lived for play and loved fully (and fought fully).  Some days felt like time would stand still. Looking back helped me to realize what I need in the present day. My time should be spent living fully in the moment, do what I love daily, always keep a sense of wonder, love deeply and maybe dance silly wearing a swim float occasionally just to keep things real!  Oh the memories!

Dedicated to my lovely, talented bossy little sister, who will always be my best friend. The original singing and dancing Libra’s!
